PPF OR CERAMIC COATING?

Timeline of Upscale Detail Co I am Jared Clasen owner of Upscale Detail Co. I am around 2 months away from transitioning from the Army full-time, and I want to express that my experience in the Army has equipped me with the ability to lead, build relationships, instill discipline in my life, and comprehend organizational management. With over 11 years of experience, I am forever grateful for the men and women I have served with. In June of 2021 an idea sparked that eventually evolved into a full-time business known today as Upscale Detail Co. The journey began with detailing my own truck in the front yard. This idea then led to me discussing it with my wife, Nicole, and deciding to post in a Facebook group to gauge interest. Soon after, I found myself inundated with more jobs than I could handle while being a full-time student at the Infantry Captains Career Course. My daily routine involved waking up at 5:30 am, working out, attending classes from 8:30 am to roughly 4 P.M., and immediately transitioning to detailing cars until around 9 P.M. This consistent effort spanned seven days a week for three months. Realizing the need for additional support, especially with the impending demands post-MCCC, I enlisted the help of my friend Joe during MCCC, working together until I found a suitable hire. Eventually, my next-door neighbor joined, and I shared my knowledge, recognizing the need for a more professional approach to this line of work. My pursuit of professionalism led me to research and discover a training school in Buford, GA. I underwent a one-day training on ceramic coatings, paint correction, and detailing, a decision I am grateful for as I initially knew nothing about this industry. Post-training, I purchased a mobile van while juggling a full-time job at Airborne School as the Battalion S1. Managing phone calls and sales during this period became challenging, prompting the need to hire a third person for the business. This realization was crucial as my next position as the commander of Charlie Company at Airborne School demanded extensive hours. Ryan Ray entered the scene, sharing the vision of the business and becoming my manager. Together, we expanded the business from a mobile van to a two-bay facility. Our complementary skills – my visionary approach and Ryan's attention to detail – laid the foundation for success. During my second year in business, I assumed the role of a commander, dedicating most of my time to managing 500-man classes and ensuring the safe exit of students from aircraft. Simultaneously, Ryan managed the team, overseeing throughput for the business, and handled sales, along with Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn, our lead detail technician has contributed so much to Upscale, having a keen eye to paint correction and interior details. In my spare time after work from 9PM to 12 a.m, I contributed to the growth of the business in marketing, sales, and training. I would then wake up and go to work at 4:30 and repeat this process for around 16 months. Ryan attended the one-day training, and subsequently, both of us invested in Renny Doyle's five-day training, a transformative experience focused on various detailing aspects and business coaching, elevating our business to new heights. In early 2023, we rebranded from JJS Squeaky Clean Mobile Detailing to Upscale Detail Co. and moved to our newest location at 4211 Milgen Road in Columbus, GA. Throughout this journey, I dedicated countless hours to creating systems for the business, focusing on customer relationship management, marketing, sales incentives, and team development. In my final days of leaving the Army I have taken advantage of the Army’s CSP program and have been interning with Josh Pierce a industry leader in the detailing world. This internship has given me the hands-on skills of PPF and tint along with business coaching. I want to personally thank Josh Pierce for giving me such an opportunity and from the bottom of my heart I couldn’t thank him more. He is the epitome of what a leader is in the world business. In closing, this journey has been incredibly rewarding, leading me to the decision to go full-time into my business. None of this would have been possible without the support of others, and I am grateful for the opportunities to enable and empower those around me. A special thanks to my wife Nicole who always supports me and believes in me. While I will miss the structured life of the Army, I am eager and excited for the journey that lies ahead. Thank you all for reading and being a part of my journey thus far.
